Phishing
Alert
Email fraud is a major
problem for internet users. Claiming to be sent by DUFCU or other
financial institutions, these emails ask you to reply with personal
information, such as your credit card number, passwords, or online
IDs to name a few. These deceptive emails (also known as email "phishing")
appear to be real in an attempt to commit identity theft.
DUFCU has recently seen
a rise in these phishing attempts—so please be aware. We will
never ask for any personal account information via email.
The emails may also
send you to a link that looks similar to DUFCU's Website. This site,
however, is NOT DUFCU. DO NOT click on the link and DO NOT enter
your personal information on the fake site. The latest attempt may
look like this:

We'll never ask you
for these things via email:
- Personal account
information
- Social Security
numbers
- Online IDs or passwords
- Credit Card numbers
- ATM PINs
If you suspect you
are a victim of an email phishing scam, contact DUFCU immediately
by calling 919.684.6704 or 866 MY DUFCU (outside Durham). You can
also contact the Federal Trade Commission by emailing spam@uce.gov
or the Internet Fraud Complaint Center of the FBI at www.ifccfbi.gov.
NOTE: If DUFCU needs
to contact you about your accounts, we will always contact you by
phone or mail, never by email.
