About DUFCU
Getting to Know DUFCU...
For over 35 years, Duke University Federal Credit Union (DUFCU) has been committed to providing quality financial service to members of the Duke University community. DUFCU is a non-profit financial cooperative, owned and operated by and for its members. All employees and graduate students paid by Duke University, as well as alumni and retirees, and immediate family members are eligible for membership with DUFCU.
The Credit Union is dedicated to creating a financially sound organization that provides members with financial education and member satisfaction. Through a unique partnership with Duke Human Resources, DUFCU has been able to provide employees with the convenience of on-campus branches, financial seminars, and packages designed specifically for work-life segments. DUFCU will continue to grow over the years to create innovative technology to help members plan for their futures so they can begin realizing their dreams.
Cutting Edge Technology...
In the past 5 years, the financial industry as a whole has created Internet capabilities that provide members with more flexible access to finances and online transactions. DUFCU is at the forefront of these technological innovations providing more convenience for its members. In addition to online access to share savings and checking accounts, DUFCU is proud to offer members secure access to i-Statements, i-Bill Pay, i-Loan and i-Visa® Accounts for faster banking 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Giving Back...
Not only does DUFCU provide quality services to its members, but the Credit Union is committed to giving back to the community which supports it. Each year, DUFCU participates in a Holiday Card sale to raise awareness and provide funds for the Duke Children's Hospital. A portion of the holiday card sales and funds from a separate balloon sale also goes to the Children's Miracle Network.
DUFCU promotes financial literacy and asset building by working with MoneyWi$e Durham to educate members of the community. DUFCU also sponsors Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) sites. These sites bring free income tax preparation to Duke University employees who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit.
In 2005, DUFCU, its members, and its staff sent over $1,000 to the Katrina relief fund through the Red Cross. These donations helped hurricane victims get the money they needed to restore their lives in the wake of that natural disaster. DUFCU also supported its local community by adopting a family at Christmas time. DUFCU provided clothing, food and toys to a Durham family. DUFCU is also a proud supporter of Angels Among Us, a local charity, which raises funds for Duke's Brain Tumor Center.
