Buying a Home

Get the financing...

You found it. That perfect starter house, the house your family can grow with, or the place to retire. Whichever the situation, it's no longer just a house, it's your home. You talk to the realtor, you make the offer and it goes through… What next?

With all of the excitement of purchasing a home, there comes a lot of things to consider. The home inspection, homeowner's insurance, the down payment, and new window treatments. At DUFCU we may not be able to help you color coordinate your drapes with your furniture, but we can make the rest of the buying process an efficient, pleasant and ultimately a rewarding experience.

Talk to an expert...

Whatever your situation, whatever loan you need, we have it. From Adjustable Rate Mortgages to Fixed Rate Mortgages, VA and FHA, we have it all. We even offer a great 100% financing program to eliminate the need for a hefty down payment.

Talk directly with a mortgage loan officer by contacting Scott Baker at 684.6704 to find answers to all of your homebuying questions. Want a review of your credit report before you buy? Get help from Balance.

Move in

Buying a home can be stressful enough, but add in the chaos of moving and you are suddenly faced with an enormous headache. While we can't promise to be out there packing boxes and lifting sofas with you, we have created a handy count-down list of things you should remember to do when moving. Check out our Mover's Countdown.

Don't forget to call and set up your utilities. Our list of local resources can point you in the right direction. And if you are thinking about home decor and have questions about faux finishes and window treatments; we recommend checking out HGTV.com, Home Depot or Lowes.

Insurance and Your New Home

Hazard insurance or homeowners insurance is required for all mortgage loans. While you're waiting for the move-in date to be booked, don't forget to get reliable coverage for your home. If you're purchasing your home along with someone else, it may also be time to consider life insurance. In the event something should happen to you or your partner, the mortgage will not become a burden. Our partners in Financial Planning, AIG VALIC can help with this.
